LEARNING ONLINE

At TAFE NSW an online course is one that has been specially developed to be delivered to students primarily on the Internet, with little or no need for classroom attendance.

While our online courses don't require classrooms, students studying online at TAFE NSW are never alone. You will have plenty of support and contact with your teacher and other students.

An online course from TAFE NSW is one that has been created to take full advantage of Internet technology as well as the expertise of our teachers and course developers. Only qualified TAFE teachers deliver our online courses.

Instead of using a classroom, our teachers rely on state-of-the-art learningware, designed exclusively for online learning, as well as online discussion forums, chat facilities and e-mail.

TAFE NSW continues to make a substantial investment in the development and delivery of online learning. We have ensured that the content of our courses, and the support online students receive, is equal to that of our campus-based courses – with all the added advantages the online environment provides.

Advantages of Learning Online

There a many advantages gained by the advent of genuine online learning.

Anywhere, anytime has been the catch-cry of online education. Yet for many years now TAFE NSW has been making the delivery of all our courses more and more flexible as the lives of students become busier and busier. Our online courses are now setting a new standard in flexible learning. You can study online 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

With flexibility also comes convenience. Less travel and no classroom attendance means more time and more choice about how you use it. Online learning means you can focus on the things that count the most.

Unlike other organisations, TAFE NSW has not sacrificed quality as our online courses have been developed from the ground up. While others are prepared to simply put lecture notes and articles online, TAFE NSW has used the full potential of the online environment to create quality courses that are also as interactive and engaging as the new medium allows.

Beyond our high quality learningware you will find yourself in the hands of high quality teachers. All TAFE NSW teachers working with students in fully online courses are specially trained for this new delivery environment.

As an online student you can rest assured that the responsive expertise that TAFE NSW teachers are well known for continues online.

One of the key reasons TAFE NSW is investing so strongly in building an online capability is to offer greater choice to students. At today's TAFE, geographic location is less and less a barrier to learning. As more and more courses become fully online there will be more and more choice for the people of NSW as well as other parts of Australia.

Online learning is an environment where specialist courses can now flourish, bringing like-minded people together in a way that previously was not possible.

All these advantages add up to one of the most effective and efficient ways possible to advance careers or personal interests.
